The Law
I. The law of God as was given to Adam. It was a covenant of works, which promised eternal life upon fulfilling it and death upon disobeying it - Genesis 2:17; Romans 5:12
II. The law of God is known by all men, because God has put it within their conscience - Romans 2:14-15, 1:18-20
III. The law of God as was given to Moses - John 1:17, 7:19, Acts 7:37-38.
A. The law was given for the purpose of:
1). Bringing all men guilty before God - Romans 3:19.
2). Revealing to man his sinfulness - Romans 3:20; 7: 5-12.
3). Justifying the wrath of God towards man - Romans 4:15, 5:13-20; 1 Corinthians 15:56; Psalm 51:3-4.
4). Bringing us to Christ - Galatians 3:24.
B. The law was NOT given for the purpose of justifying man - Romans 3:20; Galatians 2:16&21.
